LAUNDRE x SAMEK

A Collaborative Journey

ripples in motion

From a factory visit, to an artist residency, to an ongoing partnership, to a collection. Working together to recapture the value of otherwise discarded and devalued materials – LaundRe's deadstock denim jeans provided the canvas and incentive, and SAMEK the vision for repurposing them.

SEPTEMBER 25

Initial factory tour.

Following years of preparation, LaundRe had just opened its doors to the public. Upon meeting the team and witnessing their vision for sustainable denim, an immediate connection formed between them and Samantha, the creative director behind SAMEK.

With gratitude to Marcus Crook (Homie Australia) for the introduction.

NOVEMBER 25

Artist residency begins.

Under the guidance of Salli and the LaundRe team, Samantha was welcomed in to explore the factory. From washing, to lasering, to finishing – as Samantha learned more about the processes and materials, she deepened her understanding of water's role in the denim industry, as well as LaundRe's commitment to reshaping it.

DECEMBER 25

'The Ripple Effect' is released.

SAMEK and LaundRe's first co-created capsule is completed and showcased at industry events – with supporting content and brand storytelling capturing the moment.

MARCH 2026

The partnership expands.

SAMEK joins the LaundRe family in expanded roles: videography, photography, and content creation (officially). Focus shifts to documenting their other low-impact tech partnership with The LYCRA Company, and developing independent brand narratives.

APRIL - AUGUST 26

Deadstock denim development.

The UK government shifts to tracksuit-wear for inmates and over 20,000 pairs of brand new, unused raw denim originally destined for prisons is left over – in a single size. So INERTIA collection development begins, as the material provides the perfect canvas for exploration, and garments destined for landfill are given new intention.

SEPTEMBER 26

INERTIA launches.

After years of creating one-off, made-to-measure garments for artists, SAMEK releases its first public, made-to-order collection in collaboration with LaundRe.

With deep gratitude to Salli, Yeliz, James, Jo, Iona, Idrish, Callum, and the entire LaundRe team for their partnership and creative generosity.
