MEET SAMEK

Samek, 27, is an independent designer, creating custom pieces for artists within the entertainment industry. Currently based in Melbourne, Australia. This self taught designer, has been experimenting with sewing and design for over 10 years as a way to unlock the potential within herself and others, to be brave enough to show more of themselves through their art, without limitation. Establishing Samek Studio in 2022, we have worked to create a venture that operates through experimentation, creative direction, styling, working 1:1 with artists for commissions as well as producing and hosting their debut runway show in 2023. Samek is not a clothing label, we currently do not have plans to create a ready to wear. The focus is collaboration with artists and brands to create individualised pieces of artwear or concepts that support the creative expansion of whoever interacts with it. With a core value of utilising a combination of existing salvaged fabric, deadstock and slow sourced natural materials, each piece Samek creates is completely a one off and inspired by the fabric itself as well as it’s muse; to allow the creative process to work with the resources, rather than have them work for us.

What drives Samek is the ability to dive into a world, an artist, or a concept and truly represent it through it's own unique lense. It's about the shifting away from mass production and mimicking what we think we should do, or what people may like. The mission is to truly help bring out what is within, to help you realise you were never without.
