A DAWN 2023 RUNWAY
on the 7th of may 2023. the debut runway which launched the samek brand was held at the third day in north melbourne.
this event was completely independently organised and self funded with the help of countless volunteers and community support
a dawn was exactly that, a dawning, not knowing what the day will bring but the invitation to be up for sunrise (metaphorically ofc)
the show exuded bravery, community, humour, joy and play on the runway.
samek created from scratch 25 looks, from various salvaged and reclaimed materials to create the concepts for 17 models.
the models being from samek’s close community, as well as having her own mother open the show, the energy definitely felt like family, even if you didn’t know anyone there.
the first but certainly not the last.
